Moses blames Israelites

I found it interesting that Moses kept telling the Israelites that it was their fault that God would not allow him to enter the promised land. I always thought it was when Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to it, as God had told him to, that caused God to tell him he would not enter the land. Any comments on this?

Remember that just like when the people had to cross the Red Sea, sometimes the Lord requires some action to go along with the act of faith. I listened to Dan’s message about Moses that he gave last April 26, 2009 and in it he talked about faith with action.

After the group who explored the land of Canaan came back with a report that showed fear and a lack of faith and the lack of action. They lacked the faith to go into the land to conquer it with the help of the Lord. The Lord spoke to Moses in 14 Numbers 11. The Lord says, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them? I will strike them down with a plague and destroy them, but I will make you into a nation greater and stronger than they.” Moses asked the Lord to show the nations that He was (and is) slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. The Lord did forgive them, however, the people who rebelled were punished and did not see the land of Canaan.
